This Weekend: Antiques for the Garden and the Garden Room

The Antique Garden Furniture Fair opens to the public this weekend, with a full roster of exciting talks and booksignings! Come peruse the wares in the Conservatory Tent throughout Saturday and Sunday, including our own Specialty Plant Sale. For home decor inspiration, visit our series of fascinating Q&A sessions with visiting experts. Even better, home delivery is available for all purchases.
It is also quite a weekend for art lovers at the Garden with our Triennial exhibition, Weird, Wild, & Wonderful open to great acclaim. Prepare to be amazed by how the most talented botanical artists interpret the world’s most bizarre-looking plants in the Ross Gallery.
There are still plenty of ways for children to enjoy the Garden this weekend as well. Mario Batali’s Kitchen Gardens will use the growing season to guide kids through an exploration of Italian heirloom vegetables to encourage healthy and delicious eating. Dig! Plant! Grow! returns with a new program, too, investigating Wild Wiggly Worms and how they help gardens flourish.

Antique Garden Furniture Fair with Specialty Plant Sale — 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
In the Conservatory Tent
Long held as the country’s most renowned stage for authentic garden antiques and rarities, the Antique Garden Furniture Fair returns to The New York Botanical Garden with an expansive collection of ornament, decorative art, and timeless furniture for the home and garden. More than 30 established exhibitors display centuries of classic design inspiration gathered from across the United States and Europe. Acquiring a large or heavy piece? Home delivery can be arranged for any items purchased during the Antique Garden Furniture Fair.

Join us for a guided tour of the 11-acre site that offers an encyclopedic collection of the world’s azaleas planted along a broad hillside punctuated by rock outcrops and shaded by mature native trees.

Join a tour guide for an insider’s view of the newly designed Native Plant Garden. Enjoy a mosaic of nearly 100,000 native trees, wildflowers, ferns and grasses designed to flourish in every season.

With the Adventure Garden in spring color, pot up a seed to take home, go on a plant-part scavenger hunt, and have fun spotting frogs and turtles.
Dig! Plant! Grow!: Wild, Wiggly Worms – 1:30–5:30 p.m.
In the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden
Rise and shine Family Garden! Help get the garden off to a good start by sowing seeds, planting seedlings, spreading compost, and digging. Observe the rapid changes and new growth on the trees, shrubs, and bulbs in our meadow, and explore germination of seeds up close with microscopes and magnifiers.
Mario Batali’s Kitchen Gardens – 1:30 – 6 p.m.
In the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden
Kids can explore with Mario’s Menu Mystery game, featuring favorite vegetables and herbs from nine of his restaurants’ kitchens, including Otto and Del Posto.
