Fall brings fresh air, vibrant color, and seasonal activities for the whole family at NYBG this year as part of the final month of FRIDA KAHLO: Art, Garden, Life. Come celebrate the season and experience this blockbuster exhibition before it closes on November 1 with Frida al Fresco Evenings, Día de los Muertos Weekends, and Halloween activities for the whole family—including the annual Giant Pumpkin Display!
Only five Frida al Fresco evenings remain during the last month of FRIDA KAHLO. Be transported to the world of Frida Kahlo’s Mexico City during a crisp fall evening at NYBG for an unforgettable escape. On select Thursday and Friday evenings in October, the Garden remains open until 11 p.m. with live music, cocktails, and more to enhance your experience of the Casa Azul in the Conservatory and Kahlo’s rare works in the Art Gallery.

This Sunday is the last day of Kiku: The Art of the Japanese Garden, so don’t miss your chance to see hundreds of chrysanthemum blossoms take over the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory in a variety of contemporary and traditional Japanese designs. While you’re here, enjoy our Japanese Pop-Up Restaurant in its final days of serving up delicious Japanese cuisine.
October 25 and 26 is also our Award-Winning Giant Pumpkin Display. We have the largest pumpkins in North America, plus Ray Villafane’s massive zombie carving, all here for family photo ops. This weekend is also the The Haunted Pumpkin Garden‘s last before it departs for another year on October 31. Now is the time to bring the family to check out Creepy Creatures of Halloween, Spooky Nighttime Adventures, Budding Masters Creepy Pumpkin Carving Adventures (exclusively for MasterCard cardholders), and other weekend activities that will say goodbye this weekend.
In case you’re still on the fence about this weekend’s Spooky Nighttime Adventure, last week’s completely sold out, so don’t wait too long to grab your tickets!
Read on for the full schedule of special programs, and plan your visit to admire some of the largest plant displays you’ll ever see!

It’s October, which means it’s time for pumpkin everything, leaf peeping, and spooky good times, and we can promise you all three at NYBG!
Beginning the weekend of October 18, explore the Garden after dark on four special Spooky Nighttime Adventures in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden. Use all your senses to explore what happens in the dark. Listen for creepy critters in the leaf litter, thrill to the entertainers greeting you in the Visitor’s Center, decorate your own Halloween gourd to take home, and so much more!
Kids of all ages are encouraged to come in costume to really get into the spirit of the season! Spooky Nighttime Adventures have timed entrances at 6:30 and 7 p.m. on Friday, October 18; Saturday, October 19; Friday, October 25; and Saturday, October 26. If you’re looking to get the party started early, MasterCard cardholders can access special, early entrance tickets that include treats and an exploration of carnivorous plants. Why carnivorous plants? We thought you’d never ask!
