A Few of Her Favorite Things: Olga Massov

Posted in Shop/Book Reviews on November 4 2010, by Plant Talk

Olga Massov, creator of the popular cooking blog Sassy Radish, is a true triple threat: She’s a talented writer, photographer, and cook.  Olga, a finance geek by day, writes about recipes and cooking in a way that makes you want to sit down with her and have a cup of coffee while working out what to cook for dinner. Her stories are sweet and lovely; her recipes simple, seasonal, and delicious.

When we began our “Favorite Things” campaign for the Shop in the Garden, we knew we wanted to see what Olga would pick. And just like her blog, Olga’s list of holiday gifts for friends and family is warm, genuine, and delicious.

English Vines ApronFor the Gardener
This English vines apron makes me want to garden! And I don’t even have a garden to putter around in! My mom would love this–she’s enjoying gardening in the warmer months and this would make her feel productive and stylish!

Soft Blocks SetFor Kids
I am quite taken with these soft blocks and now want to give them to my friends’ kids. I love the design, the texture, and the ”learning” associated with them. The monkey is my favorite one!

Barefoot Contessa Sara MoultonFor the Host or Hostess
I think a cookbook is a great gift for a host or hostess. But this is where I couldn’t figure out what to get exactly. I’m really torn between these two books, one by the Barefoot Contessa and the other by Sara Moulton. Either (or maybe both?) would be a lovely gift.

TeapotFor Him
This porcelain tea pot looks lovely. My boyfriend is a dedicated tea drinker and every morning, I make a pot of loose leaf tea for us. Except our lid is a make-shift lid from elsewhere. I think this would be something that would appeal to a nature lover and a tea lover in him.

Radish Salt & PepperFor Her
I think these radish salt and pepper shakers would be perfect for me, er, her! They’re too cute to pass up and who would’ve thought radishes would be good for those items?

Reusable Water BottleFor Me
I’m a pretty big advocate of using refillable water bottles to offset your carbon footprint. This one with the dragonfly is SO pretty, that even though I already have a bottle, I’d want this one instead.

Emily DickinsonFor the Reader
These Emily Dickinson poems are a must! I think these would be amazing.
