Inside The New York Botanical Garden

Early Mornings in Giverny

Posted in Monet's Garden on June 1 2012, by Matt Newman

Most of us aren’t keen to stand in line, and I doubt you think any differently. But in New York City it seems almost unavoidable. Key word being “almost.”

On weekends from now through June 24, Monet’s Garden offers our Members the chance to skip straight past the bustle of the afternoon crowd and view our visiting masterworks an hour before we open the gates. Consider it a show of our gratitude for your welcome contribution to the NYBG! And seeing as spring is staying put for a while longer, we thought it best to make this available to our Members while the pleasant weather is still teasing everyone to sneak outside.

If you haven’t already signed up, becoming a Member of The New York Botanical Garden takes on a meaning beyond the discounts and privileges it earns you. Choosing to join the NYBG means contributing to the direct support of our 250-acre natural sanctuary, and reinforcing over 120 years of New York history and tradition in the process. But you don’t have to be a socialite or jetset philanthropist to get on the list! Just stop by the ticket booth and ask about our Membership options to get an idea of the many benefits and contribution levels available to everyone. If you decide to become a Member on the day of your visit, we’ll even deduct the cost of the applicable admission tickets from the price of Membership. With that, you’ll be joining the long legacy of supporters to have helped make us one of the finest botanical institutions in the world!

And remember: there’s no harm in enjoying a little exclusivity. Come and experience the Conservatory‘s Giverny display in the quiet light of early morning, and reflect on the brilliance of Monet’s paintings in the peace of the Rondina Gallery. The Ross Gallery will be open for viewing Elizabeth Murray’s photographs of Giverny, and you can even sit for an early breakfast at the Visitor Center CafĂ©. You’ll have your year-round open admission, Shop in the Garden discounts, and your free guest passes, sure, but it’s these moments more than any that make a Garden Membership so worthwhile.

Members’ Early Mornings run weekends at 9 a.m. between May 19 and June 24. Not signed up yet? No worries! Visit our membership page for information on how to become a supporter.
