Valentine’s Day Date: A Tropical Escape

New York might not seem like a hub of romance right now, what with the iced over sidewalks and sounds of cars spinning their tires in the snow, but trust me when I say that there’s at least one place in the city where the cozy warmth and inviting atmosphere of Valentine’s Day is alive and well. Returning for another year on February 14, our intimate Valentine’s Day Date will once again provide you with an opportunity to treat your nearest and dearest to a night of champagne, delectable aphrodisiacs, and tropical escapism in NYBG’s Haupt Conservatory.

Exclusively for MasterCard holders, this special evening for adults takes place amid the highlights of Wild Medicine in the Tropics, a showcase of the Conservatory’s permanent collection and the unique medicinal plants that are housed there.

You can kick off your evening with a stop in The Pine Tree Café, where small plates of foods renowned for their aphrodisiac properties will be available for purchase. Afterward, step into the tropical warmth of the Conservatory for a complimentary glass of champagne and a taste of indulgent dark chocolate. Expert guides will also be on hand to introduce you to some of the rare and featured plants in our collection. And before you head out to dinner, stop in at Shop in the Garden to pick up a treat for yourself or your significant other with the 20% discount granted by your evening ticket.

For those with kids, the MasterCard Budding Masters series also offers hands-on, educational activities to keep little ones entertained during a Chocolate Adventure. Kids ages five and older can take part in this special workshop that explores the history of chocolate, lets them taste hot cocoa and a variety of chocolate from around the world, and invites them to examine the cacao plant in their field notebooks.
