Holiday Train Show Arrives with New Dining Options and More Trains!

NYBG WeekendThis year’s all-new Holiday Train Show® opens on Saturday, November 21—with more trains, more landmarks, and more dining options than ever! This year’s exhibition features 3,000 square feet of additional exhibition space, making room for dozens of new trains, bridges, and tracks; a captivating short film of the show’s behind-the-scenes magic; and a stunning multisensory finale of light and sound. With something for everyone, plan your holiday visit today.

New this year, the MasterCard® Gingerbread Café creates a festive setting to enjoy a kid-approved menu of sandwiches, soups, salads, and desserts; two gourmet food trucks offering burgers and tacos; and a variety of holiday-themed activities. Color in a gingerbread activity sheet, and stop by our photo kiosk for a memorable souvenir. MasterCard Cardholders receive a complimentary sweet treat with a purchase of $10 or more.

Frosty’s Schnapps Haus, a Bavarian-themed outdoor dining option to keep you warm in winter, offers a variety of treats such as roasted chestnuts and pretzels from an authentic pretzel cart as well as spiked hot beverages. Also at the Visitor Center, enjoy first-class culinary creations at the Pine Tree Café amid one of the Garden’s arboreal wonders: a world-renowned collection of rare and unusual pines from Asia, Europe, and North America that features century-old specimens nearly 100 feet tall. The family-friendly menu ranges from artisanal panini, Neapolitan-style pizza, and signature salads to sweet treats and snacks. An Independence Day Celebration will honor Mexico’s heritage in the spirit of Frida Kahlo, the iconic artist and outspoken patriot of Mexico who is the subject of our current exhibition, FRIDA KAHLO: Art, Garden, Life. Alongside this blockbuster exhibition, visitors can enjoy an array of live performances and activities, with a particular highlight being the long-awaited poetry reading led by Rachel Eliza Griffiths this Saturday.

This Weekend: Fun and al Fresco

Peggy Rokefeller Rose Garden beeOnly two nights left to enjoy Frida al Fresco Evenings featuring Jenny Holzer! June 12 & 13 are the last of this special series of four consecutive nights that culminate in a program of scrolling light projections at the Garden’s iconic Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, presented by internationally renowned artist Jenny Holzer, The New York Botanical Garden, and the Poetry Society of America. After the usual Frida al Fresco fun, featuring live music, food, and cocktails beginning at 6:30 p.m., waves of poetry will sweep over the landmark building from dusk until 10 p.m. (weather permitting).

Families this weekend can bring their appetite to NYBG for more delicious and nutritious and educational cooking demonstrations from the Whole Foods Market® Family Garden Kitchen in the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden. Admire the vibrant blooming season with live music, refreshments, and expert-led tours and talks—a beautiful experience for everyone from casual rose admirers to experienced rosarians. You can even take part in a rose gardening demonstration.
