This Weekend: Three Days of FRIDA KAHLO and Spring Beauty for Memorial Day

So come enjoy the holiday weekend amid the Garden’s seasonal spring beauty, with three days of our festive weekend programs surrounding FRIDA KAHLO: Art, Garden, Life. With plenty of tours scheduled to highlight what’s beautiful in spring, there are many ways to experience the Garden this weekend. If you’re out of town this weekend, next weekend is our Annual Science Open House—a once-a-year glimpse into the groundbreaking research that goes on at NYBG, with special tours of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, the Steere Herbarium, and the Plant Research Laboratory.

Everett Children's Adventure Garden

Every week during the school year, more than 1,200 young children participate in specially designed school programs developed and taught at the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden (ECAG). And that number swells to about 1,600 during New York City’s school testing weeks in April when more students stream into ECAG’s gardens and facilities because upper grades are taking tests.

“During the spring we see a big uptick in the number of school field trips. Our facility can serve over 2,000 students per week, allowing us to deliver programming to more children than any other children’s venue within NYBG,” says Fran Agnone, Coordinator of the Adventure Garden.

NYBG Bids You Buenas Noches

Frida al FrescoEvening events at the Garden provide one of the most magical atmospheres in New York City, and make for a perfect way to view our world-class exhibitions. FRIDA KAHLO: Art, Garden, Life will be no exception. When the exhibition opens to the public on May 16, that evening will mark the first occasion in the grandest season of evening events the Garden has ever presented. Frida al Fresco Evenings will take place on select Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays throughout the exhibition’s six-month run, with a variety of featured musicians, dancers, performers, and artists each night to transport visitors to Coyoacán and beyond.
