The
Floral Design Program teaches a wide range of techniques
and styles, whether you enjoy creating magnificent floral
designs for your own pleasure or for a client. From fresh
floral arrangements for your dining room
to party arrangements for a summer wedding, you discover the
many aspects of this creative art. This program is designed
for students who are interested in full- or part-time employment.
The Garden offers a Certificate in Floral Design. Certificate
recipients are qualified to work as floral designers in florist's
shops or in their own shops, or can specialize in wedding
and party decorations. In the required hands-on workshops,
students work with fresh, silk, and dried flowers. Experienced
designers conduct all courses.
The Program Coordinator is Frank Laning AAF, AIFD, PFCI,
owner of Flowers by Frank Laning, Ltd. in Chappaqua, New York,
who serves on the advisory board of Flowers & Magazine,
Cut Flower Outreach Team, and the Board of the AIFD Foundation.
He designed for three Presidential Inaugurations. Frank has
presented designs, instruction, and commentary at symposia,
conventions, and schools throughout the United States and
Asia. He has received the Best of Show award at the Philadelphia
Flower Show, the exclusive Tommy Bright Award from PFCI, and
he is a Fellow of the Institute (AIFD).
