Colored Pencils Over Transparent Watercolor
Certificate Elective (track 1 & 2), Classroom Hours: 15

Working with autumn berries such as Viburnum, buckethorn, hawthorne, and rose hips, students create a detailed drawing of a plant on Hot Press watercolor paper. Glazes of transparent watercolor are applied first. When the watercolor is completely dry, layers of colored pencil are burnished over the watercolor, creating deep glowing colors. This technique is used for rendering the subtle textures of botanicals and varying the green tones of a leaf. Please bring lunch. Prerequisite: Drawing II-BIL 302.
