A robust volunteer program offers hands-on learning and experience as well as the opportunity to meet, talk, create partnerships, share, and collaborate with others. We offer community workdays in Bronx gardens and urban farms that are open to the public. On any given day, you might make compost, build raised beds, sow seeds, plant a tree, taste tomatoes, or watch worms wiggle in a child's hands. Our monthly E-news lists opportunities to volunteer throughout the year. We also host individuals in intern and apprenticeship capacities.

  • Each summer, we host a youth employee to work with us for six weeks of summer through the Summer Youth Employment Program.
  • We partner with Farm School NYC to offer an apprenticeship in urban agriculture. Adult apprentices give 140 hours of volunteer time assisting our program and working hands-on in community gardens, urban farms and at local schools. This apprenticeship is part of a certificate program in urban agriculture with Farm School NYC. Students apprentice in areas of agriculture, food enterprise, and education with a focus on community building and food justice.
  • We accept individual requests for interns and volunteers.
