Meditative Forest Bathing

September 11, 2026

1 p.m. | Reflecting Pool

As New York City marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, the Garden can serve as a place of respite and remembrance.

Allow yourself to be fully present as you bathe your senses in the sights, sounds, and scents of the Thain Family Forest with this forest bathing session, also known as the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku. Join this gently paced, guided hour that invites you to observe, meditate, and be at peace.

Take a Self-Guided Audio Tour

Can’t make it to our guided forest bathing activity? This audio guide is always available for you to enjoy an individual experience, and focuses on slowing down and experiencing the sensory connections that help calm the mind and deepen reflection under a glorious forest canopy.

This experience takes roughly one hour from beginning to end. You can also choose to do a shorter 20-minute session and conclude after Track 2.
