Join Dr. Fabián A. Michelangeli and discover how NYBG scientists move between herbarium collections, fieldwork abroad, and the research lab in the quest to document biodiversity. This lecture will concentrate on his work on the princess flower and meadow beauty family (Melastomataceae). Dr. Michelangeli will also highlight his recent trips to the Andes and the Amazon, how he works with in-country partners, and even preview new species discovered in these expeditions.

About the Speaker

Dr. Fabián A. Michelangeli is the Abbess Senior Curator of Tropical Botany and Director of the Center for Biodiversity and Evolution at NYBG. His research focuses on the evolution and systematics of Neotropical plants and animal-plant interactions.
