Assistant Curators Ana María Bedoya and Evelyn Beaury will provide updates on ongoing projects funded by the National Science Foundation. Dr. Bedoya will discuss progress on “Closing the gap: The history of river connections with the formation of the isthmus of Panama and its impact on the evolution of plants in rivers,” and Dr. Beaury will present updates on “Mapping plant trade as a driver of biological invasions.”

Dr. Ana María Bedoya is a plant botanist investigating how the world’s richest flora—the Neotropical flora—was and continues to be shaped by the geological and climatic history of our planet.
