Pumpkin Smash 2026

Did you know that every year, more than one billion pounds of pumpkins are sent to the landfill after Halloween in the U.S.? For more than a decade, NYBG and Lehman College have joined forces to bring you Pumpkin Smash! Instead of letting these festive squash contribute to climate change, help transform them into compost for parks and community gardens. While you’re there, enjoy pumpkin-based recipes, try your hand at pumpkin crafts, and take home still-good pumpkins to cook. Bring any old jack-o’-lanterns you’d like to smash!
