Bronx Food & Farm Tours: Bronx River Oases Walking Tour
Saturday, July 11, 2026
10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. | Off-site
Mitsubishi River Walk | Intersection of Bronx River Parkway and Boston Road, enter through Gate B of the Bronx Zoo
Join us to celebrate the gardens of the Bronx River! This walking tour explores the history of some of the Bronx’s oldest community green spaces and their connection to the river. We’ll begin at Mitsubishi River Walk, a beautiful public waterfront where there will be optional paddling on the Bronx River. After that, we walk to the 50-year-old Bronx River Community Garden, featuring vegetable beds, composting, rainwater harvesting, and native plants, before visiting the Bronx River Arts Center. We’ll end the day heading north to the Drew Gardens, a river site transformed from an industrial landfill into a lush community space in 1994, where we’ll gather for a shared meal. Registration Required.
We will be walking a total of 1.4 miles. If riding in a vehicle for part of the tour would make this tour more accessible for you, please contact bronxgreenup@nybg.org (limited space available).
