Homegrown: Houseplants Through the Ages

Today, a new generation is reviving interest in houseplants, especially those that are easy to care for and offer showy, colorful foliage. Indoor greenery is now must-have decor. As we celebrate a year of #plantlove at NYBG, and Calatheas, spider plants, and pothos return to window sills and sunny shelves around the country, the LuEsther T. Mertz Library has curated titles from its collections to illustrate the history of houseplants, highlighting the various trends that first emerged throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
