Member Evening Hours

August 7; 6 to 8 p.m.

Stay late and savor a summer evening at the Garden! We’ll be open after hours exclusively for Members and their guests. Enjoy extended access to Van Gogh’s Flowers and stroll the grounds as the sun sets. Light food and drink will be available for purchase in the Conservatory Courtyard.

Included in Member All-Garden Pass admission. Garden Tram Tour and some areas of the Garden grounds will not be available during Evening Hours. The Pine Tree Cafe, Hudson Garden Grill, and NYBG Shop will remain open until 8 p.m.

Tuesday, August 5

    Advanced reservation required

    Take a tour and learn how to identify some of the delightful summer flowers in bloom. Join our horticulture expert to learn about the physical parts of a flower and how they present in different species.

    This event is now at capacity. Please email membership@nybg.org to be added to the waitlist. Registered guests should have received an automatic email confirmation and will be sent additional reminders the week of the event.

    Meet at Conservatory Plaza

    Learn more about the water lilies and lotuses that live in the Conservatory Courtyard. Dominating the tropical pool is the Victoria amazonica, the world’s largest water lily, whose leaves can span seven feet.

    At NYBG and Online*

    Join Dr. Ana María Bedoya, Assistant Curator at the NYBG Center for Biodiversity and Evolution, as she shares her research on Neotropical aquatic plants, found in the extreme conditions of waterfalls and river rapids.

    *Members can attend in-person or online, as the lecture will also be hosted live on Zoom.

    Meet at Conservatory Plaza

    Join a Garden Docent for a tour of the Jane Watson Irwin Perennial Garden, which combines a vast palette of colors, textures, flowers, and foliage to create interest in every season.

  • August 6; 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.
    Advance reservation required

    The William and Lynda Steere Herbarium is the centerpiece of the Garden’s botanical research program. Get a special look at preservation techniques and behind-the-scenes operations with Herbarium staff.

Thursday, August 7

    Advance reservation required

    Hop on the tram with an NYBG Horticulture staff member and take a tour of notable areas around the grounds, including Garden history and seasonal highlights. Attendees will be seated for the duration of this tour on an open-air tram.
