Tuesday, August 15
- Perennial Garden Tour
11 a.m.–12 p.m. | Meet at the Conservatory Plaza
Enjoy a tour of the Jane Watson Irwin Perennial Garden, which combines a vast palette of colors, textures, flowers, and foliage to create interest in every season.
- Thain Family Forest tour
3–4 p.m. | Meet at the Reflecting Pool
Experience the beauty of the Garden’s 50-acre Forest and learn facts about the trees, history, geology, and ecology of this original, uncut woodland.
Wednesday, August 16
- LuEsther T. Mertz Library Open House
10 a.m.–12 p.m. | LuEsther T. Mertz Library, 6th Floor
Stop in for a special open house of this historic library. View their impressive collections, rare books, and newly acquired items. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the closed stacks and don’t leave without registering for your own free library card. - Water Lilies and Lotuses Tour
11 a.m.–12 p.m. | Meet at the Conservatory Plaza
Learn more about the water lilies and lotuses that live in the Conservatory Courtyard. Dominating the tropical pool is the Victoria amazonica, the world’s largest water lily, whose leaves can span seven feet.
- NYBG Historic Landmarks Tour
2–3 p.m. | Meet at the LuEsther T. Mertz Library, 6th Floor
Enjoy a fascinating overview of the Garden’s history as a vital NYC cultural destination since 1891. Explore the Tulip Tree Allee, the Fountain of Life, the Library, and the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.
Thursday, August 17
- Conservatory Tour (English)
11 a.m.–12 p.m. | Meet at the Conservatory Plaza
Explore the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, a stunning example of Victorian-style glasshouse artistry. Take an ecotour through distinct habitats, including rainforest and deserts, and aquatic and carnivorous plant displays. - Tour del Conservatorio (Español)
1–2 p.m. | El encuentro de locación es en la Plaza del Conservatorio
Explore el Conservatorio de Enid A. Haupt, un impactante ejemplo de invernadero, en el estilo de arte Victoriano. Realice un tour ecológico a través de distintos hábitats, incluyendo bosques tropicales y desiertos, y exhibiciones de plantas acuáticas y carnívoras. - Steere Herbarium Tour
1–2 p.m. & 2–3 p.m. | Meet at Britton Rotunda, 4th floor of Mertz Library building
The William and Lynda Steere Herbarium is the centerpiece of the Garden’s botanical research program. Herbarium staff will guide Members through this special collection not open to the public. Learn about fascinating plant specimens, preservation techniques, and behind-the-scenes operations.Sign-ups for this tour are now closed. Though space is not guaranteed without a reservation, Members are welcome to arrive at the tour time and may be accommodated if space becomes available. There will be another Steere Herbarium tour on 9/7/23.

- African American Garden Tour
11 a.m.–12 p.m. | Meet at African American Garden at the Edible Academy
The African American Garden: The Caribbean Experience explores the plants and gardening histories that are essential contributions to Caribbean foodways.
- Native Plant Garden Tour
1–2 p.m. | Meet at the Reflecting Pool
The Native Plant Garden houses a diverse collection of ferns, perennials, shrubs, and trees native to the northeastern US. Take a guided tour through these re-created habitats with one of the Garden’s docents.
