Join NYBG for a weekend in lush Miami, exploring unique tropical ecosystems and visiting innovative institutions that communicate this biodiversity to the public.

Highlights will include:

  • Guided tour of the historic Deering Estate with NYBG scientist Emily Sessa, through diverse ecosystems—from tropical hardwood hammocks to mangroves to the endangered pine rockland. This activity will be followed by a group lunch.
  • Behind-the-scenes tour of the Montgomery Botanical Center, the living legacy of Fairchild Tropical Garden founders Robert and Nell Montgomery, and home to one of the world’s most significant palm and cycad collections. Learn about Montgomery’s plant conservation efforts, tour their propagation houses, and visit exceptionally rare specimens. The tour will be followed by lunch.
  • Private garden tour with celebrated landscape architect Raymond Jungles
  • Evening cocktails at the residence of NYBG Trustee Bethany Millard, complete with a mangrove walk

For cancellations made on or before February 27, 2026, travelers will be refunded the cost of their trip minus the non-refundable deposit of $500. For any cancellations made on or after March 1, 2026, no refunds will be granted.
