Natural Dye Workshop

Saturday, May 17, 2025

12 to 4 p.m. | Off-site

El Flamboyan Community Garden | 586 Tinton Ave., Bronx, NY

Come join Sajata-E and the Herbarium + Community Gardens Initiative for a natural dye workshop at El Flamboyan Community Garden! We’ll be dyeing woolen items from scratch, creating different color dyes from various raw plant materials with workshop facilitator Sajata, creator of Sajata-E Design Studios. All workshop materials will be provided, and no prior natural dye experience is necessary. Participants will experience the functional and artistic uses of plants and be guided in dialogue around the history and craft of natural dyeing. This event is free and open to all. Light food and refreshments will be provided.

This event is funded in part by the Humanities of NY Action Grant through the Herbarium + Community Initiative, an interdisciplinary collaboration between community members and the NYBG Herbarium, Humanities Institute, and Bronx Green-Up, in partnership with Sajata-E Design Studio.
