Thain Family Forest Tour
Learn about the importance of the Garden’s 50-acre, old-growth Forest on this one-hour walking tour with Jessica Arcate Schuler, Director of the Thain Family Forest. Today, the Forest is the largest uncut expanse of New York City’s original wooded landscape. It is a magnificent reminder of the beauty and resilience of nature in the face of complex human-caused disturbances. To preserve the Forest for future generations, the Garden manages invasive species, plants native plants, and performs research. Learn about the trees, history, geology, and ecology of the Forest, and how it protects biodiversity and mitigates the impacts of climate change.
