Sitting Still: Film Screening and Conversation with Laurie Olin

November 18, 2025

1 to 2 p.m. | Ross Hall

Sitting Still film posterSITTING STILL is an original documentary that explores the life and work of Laurie Olin, FASLA—one of the world’s most influential urban designers and his profoundly social vision. Hailed as a modern-day Olmsted, Olin has transformed the design of public space and paved the way for future design leaders.

This rare, intimate portrait invites you inside the mind of a brilliant and irreverent iconoclast—to see what he sees, feel what inspires him, and hear his urgent call to confront the environmental challenges shaping our collective future like never before.

Join us for a partial viewing of SITTING STILL—introduced by filmmaker Gina Angelone of SA KWA Pictures—followed by a conversation between Laurie Olin and Ursula Hoskins, R.L.A., NYBG’s Vice President for Capital Planning, Construction and Operations, and Chief Sustainability Officer.

This event is coordinated in partnership with NYBG’s Landscape Design Students and Alumni Association.
