Funding for Research

Seeking grant funding helps graduate students gain independence, sharpen their ideas, and develop skills that matter throughout a research career. Support can come from many places, including federal agencies, private foundations, professional societies, universities, and mission-driven organizations that fund research, training, or travel.

Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation Field Research Fund

The New York Botanical Garden invites applications to the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation Field Research Fund for hands-on field work for NYBG graduate students and interns. This competitive program awards funding to students who will benefit from fieldwork to advance their research and professional development. Awardees share the results of their field projects through publications, presentations, social media, and NYBG Science Talk blog posts. Please reach out to Lawrence Kelly (lkelly@nybg.org) with questions. Download the application form.
