How to Apply

Applications for admission to the Commodore Matthew Perry Graduate Studies Program must be made separately to the New York Botanical Garden and to an affiliated program. The deadline for NYBG applications is January 15 each year; please check affiliated programs for their deadlines and requirements. NYBG applications should be downloaded, filled out, and sent as an e-mail attachment directly to Lawrence M. Kelly (lkelly@nybg.org), Director of Graduate Studies, copied to Corinne Enright (cenright@nybg.org). Applicants are strongly encouraged to establish correspondence with a potential NYBG advisor before applying. Application materials submitted to NYBG should include the following:

Application form
–Statement of purpose
–Three letters of recommendation (sent as e-mail attachments directly from recommenders)
–Academic transcripts from undergraduate and postgraduate institutions
–Curriculum vitae (strongly encouraged)
–GRE scores are NOT required by NYBG or partner programs
