Join us after hours as Flower Power comes alive with a mesmerizing liquid light show and unforgettable live music! Each night features a headlining band on stage whose work brings a fresh, modern edge to the iconic and free-spirited sound of the late ’60s—including Ghost Funk Orchestra and Habibi—as colorful visuals by Liquid Light Lab transform the Mertz Library façade into a swirling, psychedelic canvas.

Explore the Flower Power exhibition under the lights in the Haupt Conservatory, browse goods and learn from local craftspeople at our Maker’s Market, challenge friends to classic lawn games, and tap into your creativity while making a friendship bracelet. Grab a bite from a lineup of delicious picnic-ready food options, and celebrate peace and love during a night filled with music, art, and flowers!

Important Note for Ticket Holders: Flower Power Nights have a rain date reserved for the next day. If a program is rescheduled due to inclement weather, ticket holders will be notified by 2 p.m. on the Friday prior. Additional details about rain dates are available in the Know Before You Go section below.

Meet local artists, experts, and grass-roots organizations. Shop from local partners featuring a line-up of textile, ceramic, and jewelry makers, and learn about the important environmental work of local organizations.

Enjoy an assortment of family-friendly games, including Corn Hole, Giant Jenga, and Ring Toss. Learn how to weave a friendship bracelet for yourself or for a friend!

Enjoy delicious dinner options from a line-up of New York City’s finest food trucks and vendors, as well as mocktails and cocktails for sale. Enjoy a picnic on the lawn or a seated dinner at the Hudson Garden Grill.

Know Before You Go

  • Flower Power Nights are a great way to view Flower Power in the glow of the evening, with a mesmerizing liquid light show creating colorful psychedelic scenes on the Mertz Building, plus drinks and food available for purchase. The evening concludes with a live musical performance by contemporary bands inspired by the sounds of the ’60s.

  • Yes! Flower Power Nights are available for all ages.

  • The Garden is open for two and a half hours during Flower Power Nights. Plan to spend at least 60 minutes exploring the exhibition and enjoying the evening. Be sure to account for extra time to visit the bars and food trucks, and enjoy the outdoors as the sun goes down. Join us on the Mertz Building lawns for an included live concert and liquid light show. The Garden closes at 10 p.m.

  • Visitors are welcome to bring blankets to sit on while enjoying the concert. Chairs and in-ground umbrellas are not permitted on the lawns. We thank you for doing your part to help protect our landscapes.

  • Each Flower Power Night has a scheduled Rain Date hold for the day immediately following the scheduled performance. In the event a Rain Date is activated, ticket holders will be informed by 2 p.m. the Friday prior.

    Rescheduled Rain Dates are as follows:

    • Saturday, May 30 will be rescheduled to Sunday, May 31 from 7:30 to 10 p.m.
    • Saturday, June 13 will be rescheduled to Sunday, June 14 from 7:30 to 10 p.m.
    • Saturday, June 20 will be rescheduled to Sunday, June 21 from 7:30 to 10 p.m.
    • Saturday, June 27 will be rescheduled to Sunday, June 28 from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

    Should unexpected conditions arise during the event, the concert will be cancelled while the rest of the evening’s festivities will go on as scheduled.

  • Strollers are encouraged in outdoor areas of the Garden but are not permitted in the Conservatory, on the Conservatory Lawn, or on the Mertz Building lawns. Stroller parking is available at these locations. Baby carriers are allowed for transporting little ones through the exhibition. Visitors using a stroller as an accessibility device are permitted to take the stroller in all wheelchair accessible areas in the Garden. If someone in your party uses a stroller as an accessibility device, please ask our staff for instructions upon your arrival.
