Be-In the Music: Live Folk Music Performances
Saturdays, Sundays, and select Fridays and Mondays
Sets at 12, 1, & 2 p.m.
Conservatory Lawn
Sing along to ’60s favorites and enjoy contemporary, original works by a rotating lineup of New York City folk musicians inspired not only by the ’60s Greenwich Village folk scene, but also lesser-known genres of the period.

The weekend lineup is curated by The Jalopy Theatre and School of Music, a multi-disciplinary arts organization dedicated to presenting and preserving evolving folk, traditional, and roots-based music and art from New York City, the Americas, and around the world. Through live performances, education, and community engagement, Jalopy supports artists, fosters multigenerational connection, and provides access to our shared musical heritage. Jalopy operates its own in-house record label, Jalopy Records, releasing multiple recordings each year by contemporary artists alongside historic archival works.
On Fridays, sing along to familiar tunes by The Creswell Club, and on select Wednesdays visit the NYBG Farmers Market for live music while enjoying lunch.

Vaden Landers
July 11 & 12
Accompanied by Karl Zerfas & Jon Wert
From the enchanting landscapes of Eastern Tennessee
comes the burgeoning talent of Vaden Landers, a 32-year-
old artist weaving a tapestry of melodies that harken back
to the golden era of country music. Vaden’s journey began
as a train-hopping troubadour and street busker, crafting
songs that resonate with the very soul of Americana.
Affectionately dubbed “The Yodeling Country Bluesman,”
his authenticity shines as a torchbearer of the classic country tradition, infused with a contemporary spark.
Hannah Thompson
July 18 & 19
Accompanied by Charlie Perry
Hannah Lee Thompson is a musician and organizer based in Baltimore and New York. As a kid, she studied clawhammer banjo from Eli Smith of the Downhill Strugglers and Jalopy Records. In 2021, she played the lead role in the feature film Hannah Ha Ha, which went on to win Best Narrative Feature and Best Acting Performance at Slamdance 2022, and premiered in theaters as a New York Times Critic’s Pick in February of 2023. Hannah will be joined by longtime collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Charlie Perry.
Rashad Brown
July 25 & 26
Accompanied by Sam Levin & Issac Jaffe
Rashad Brown is a guitarist and keyboard player performing in and around Brooklyn, New York at Sunny’s, the Good Fork, but mostly at the Jalopy Theater and Tavern where he can be seen every second Saturday of the month with his band The Swiftly Tilting Planet. He has performed with Brotherhood of the Jugband Blues, Spirit Family Reunion, The Boxcutter Collective, and Jackson and the Janks.
Ricky Stein
August 1 & 2
Accompanied by Karl Zerfas
Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Ricky Stein was born in Austin, Texas, and raised on an eclectic musical diet centered around the classic albums of the Beatles, Willie Nelson, and Bruce Springsteen. Stein moved to New York City in 2016 and has since become a regular performer at the Jalopy Tavern, Skinny Dennis, Sunny’s, and Pete’s Candy Store, while gaining airplay on WFUV and WKCR. Originals such as “American Dreaming,” “The Night Is Young,” and “Night Shines On” belie a stubborn hopefulness in an anxious age—flowers growing through the cracks of the city streets.
Jeremy James Meyer
August 8 & 9
Accompanied by Kacie Hill
Jeremy James Meyer is an artificer of song. A songwriter’s songwriter. He crafts redemptive songs full of woody rock ‘n’ roll tones. Alive & OK comes out swingin like saloon doors on it’s opener “Brick Wall Blues.” His deep, penetrating voice has a wide range, and is especially captivating in his droning, lower register. Jeremy is mesmerizing on his folk songs like “Bon Voyage”—a hot jazz-influenced song of resilience, with stabbing piano and electric guitar prodding Jeremy’s winding verses.
Olivia Ellen Lloyd
August 15 & 16
Accompanied by Andrea Asprelli & Sam Dallas
Her debut album, Loose Cannon, has been streamed over one million times while she has been crossing the country playing shows, winning songwriting contests (like Kerrville in 2023) and generally eating life down to the rind.
Lloyd has spent the past three years doubling down on her efforts to build community within the Alt-Country and Americana scene while deepening her working partnership with Mike Robinson, an in-demand sideman known for touring and recording with the likes of Sarah Jarosz, Railroad Earth, Teddy Thompson, Iris Dement, Lindsay Lou, Bella White, Zach Bryan, Jobi Riccio, and Ryan Beatty.
