Craft Your Own Garden Adventures

Every day at the Garden is a chance for kids and families to set out on an exciting adventure to discover the fascinating world of plants. Each season brings new opportunities to explore and make lifelong connections with nature, whether you’re getting hands-on with the vegetable harvest in the Edible Academy, planting up a seedling with our Teen Explainers to care for at home, or learning a new recipe that even little ones can prepare.

Rooted In Plants: Celebrate Women's History Month

March 3 through April 1, 2026

During Women’s History Month, visit the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden to explore the many ways in which women have contributed to our collective understanding and uses of plants! Learn about Harriet Tubman and how plants helped guide her and many others to freedom. Discover inspirational stories about the influential legacy of woman botanists, herbalists, and environmentalists.

Earth to Plants

Discover the wonders of the plant world this spring in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden. Investigate plants from around the globe in our teaching greenhouse. Learn more about the plants that are waking up as winter transitions to spring, and craft Seed Tape to grow your own pollinator-friendly plant in your neighborhood.

Dig! Plant! Grow!

Edible Academy

Roll up your sleeves and help tend the gardens in the Edible Academy! During each program, visitors can dig in the soil, sow seeds, and water the seedlings at the Digging, Planting, and Watering stations.

Fresh from the Garden Tastings

May 6–November 1, 2026
Wednesdays, Saturdays, & Sundays
2 p.m.

Get hands-on with healthy cooking using new recipes featuring plants grown in the Edible Academy. NYBG staff create these family-friendly recipes using seasonal vegetables, fruits, and herbs, and kids and adults alike can learn how garden-to-table cooking is not only nutritious, but fun, too.
