The Conservatory Ball will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019, celebrating Maureen K. Chilton for her nine years of service as NYBG’s Board Chair. Maureen has guided the Garden through a period of unprecedented success and growth, helping to sustain NYBG’s position as an iconic living museum, a major educational institution, and a renowned plant research and conservation organization.
Guests are invited to preview the highly anticipated Brazilian Modern: The Living Art of Roberto Burle Marx. This Garden-wide exhibition showcases the pioneering visionary’s bold landscapes, vibrant art, and passionate commitment to plant conservation. During the cocktail hour, experience lush gardens in and around the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory inspired by Burle Marx’s designs, as well as his paintings, drawings, and textiles in the LuEsther T. Mertz Library’s Art Gallery. An elegant dinner and an evening of dancing will follow in the Conservatory Tent.
Proceeds from the Ball help underwrite the Garden’s internationally acclaimed programs in children’s education, which serve more than 300,000 children and families in the Tri-State area annually, its internationally acclaimed programs in botanical science, and the beautiful 250-acre oasis, including 50 specialty gardens, in the Bronx. If you are unable to attend, please consider a contribution to support this important work.
