Jody Payne

Curator of the Rock Garden and Native Plant Garden

Profile

Jody is curator of both the historic Rock Garden and the new Native Plant Garden, opening May 2013. In the Rock Garden, she creates planting plans; orders plants, seeds, and bulbs; oversees growing and record keeping; and helps coordinate day-to-day care of this complex, multilayered garden. A graduate of the Garden’s School of Professional Horticulture, Jody worked in both public and private gardens before coming to NYBG in 2006. In 2009, she also became curator of the new Native Plant Garden, working with staff and designers on planting plans, soil specifications, sourcing and ordering plants, and coordinating planting as well as horticultural maintenance in the new garden.
