Hands-on Activities
1–4 p.m.
Join our Teen Explainers for a variety of hands-on crafts and activities that engage young minds and inspire imagination! Pot up a plant, craft your own tea mix, and more.
“Off with their Heads” Red Begonias
Nurture your green thumb and pot up your own hardy red begonia plant to watch grow this summer.
Magical Tea Blends
Sample a taste of delightful herbal iced tea, then mix up your own fragrant tea blend using familiar and flavorful dried plant parts like thyme, chamomile, peppermint, hibiscus, catnip, and butterfly pea flower. Bring your mix home to host your own tea party!
Grow Your Own Mycelium Sculpture
Learn all about mushroom life cycles, including parts you can’t see underground, like mycelium—the root-like structure that makes up most of the fungus. Then craft a mycelium egg sculpture to take home, inspired by artist Andre Kong’s Homegrown house made of mycelium bricks.
