We're in the running to select a new official NYC

We're in the running to select a new official NYC wildflower, and we need your vote! 🗳🌼

As part of #WildflowerNYC, we've teamed up with botanical institutions all around the city to face off in an election unlike any other, selecting flowering candidates from each borough to go head-to-head in determining which one will wear the crown of official native bloom for our entire metropolis. Spicebush—a native whose gentle yellow flowers add bright color to our forest trails in early spring—is a shoe-in!

Five years ago, artist @lily_kwong came to NYBG to begin her career as a plantsperson, joining our Continuing Education Landscape Design Certificate program as a dedicated student of horticultural history, modern design, and the hands-on skills that launched her into the spotlight for plant lovers all around the country. Today, she's the acclaimed designer of The Orchid Show: Natural Heritage--a celebration of her ancestral connections to nature and the skills she's developed since embarking on her botanical journey.
