In Plant People episode 6, we’re getting our feet wet with a little “extreme botany.” 🌊🌿

We’re joined by NYBG Assistant Curator Ana María Bedoya, Ph.D. She spends much of her time tracking down aquatic plants that live in some of the harshest conditions, including steep cliffs, river rapids, and tumbling waterfalls—which is certainly on the extreme end of botanical adventuring. Listen in as we discuss her research in the wilderness of South America, the reasons many aquatic plants are especially vulnerable to climate change, and her journeys through Earth’s most extreme ecosystems.

These picture-perfect nights out are your chance to experience our all-new exhibition lit up for the evening. And it wouldn’t be a celebration without live music and performances—featuring jazz and dance that evoke the Parisian bistros Van Gogh frequented. Grab a cocktail or mocktail and a bite for purchase, and join us out on the lawn, where—conditions permitting—the sky over NYBG comes alive with an illuminated drone show in homage to the artist’s most famous work.

Indoors and out, the Haupt Conservatory and its surroundings have been transformed with large-scale contemporary art and botanical displays that bring Van Gogh’s world to life.
