We’re closing out today’s run of major updates with one more piece of breaking news: @KAWS is coming to the New York Botanical Garden! ✨

Both iconic and iconoclastic, the famed artist takes over NYBG in summer of 2027 with bold interventions of nature that put monumental sculptures front and center against the living canvas of the Garden, creating unexpected moments for long-time fans and those new to the artist’s work. Set out to find awe-inspiring scenes both inside our galleries and across our 250 acres, and see KAWS’ boundary-defying work within the beauty and complexity of the natural world.

Today's big announcements keep rolling with a summer exhibition we KNOW you’re gonna dig: FLOWER POWER! 🌼☮️✌️

Starting May 23, 2026, channel the spirit of the ‘60s at this joyous celebration of the enduring symbolism of flowers as icons of peace and love. Immerse yourself in a groovy and colorful flower show spotlighting the ways in which hippie culture advanced closer relationships with the natural world. In the Garden’s galleries, discover photography and visual art from the 1960s, while installations throughout NYBG's grounds invite all of us to “come together” and be empowered to embrace flowers as symbols in our own lives.

As the seasons change, so too do the botanical displays of our exhibition in and around the Haupt Conservatory. See the field of monumental sunflowers grow taller and more lush as the days pass, while the palettes of plants inside our landmark glasshouse shift with new summer flowers taking the place of spring favorites.

As summer warms up, we're cooling off in some of the shadiest spots in the Garden. 🌲🌤️

The Thain Forest is the place to be for miles of trails that take you out of the city and put you among the sun-dappled paths of our 50-acre, old-growth woodland. And the Native Plant Garden is a perfect escape to find a bench, open a book, and relax to the sound of wildlife among one of our greenest collections.
