Moore for Kids
May 24—October 5, 2008
Tuesdays through Fridays, 1:30-5:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. –5:30 p.m.
Children are encouraged to observe and interact with Henry Moore’s sculpture throughout the Botanical Garden to create their own works of art in a series of activities designed around Moore in America.
The “Family Fun Guide,” available in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden and at the Leon Levy Visitor Center and the Mosholu Gate entrances, offers a number of projects and ideas for how children and families can enjoy Moore’s monumental pieces while being inspired by nature to create their own art. The activities prompt children to look, listen, draw, move, and think while viewing the different sculpture.
At the Children’s Adventure Garden, children can create a collage using natural materials such as seeds, leaves, twigs, and hay or craft clay sculpture out of pinecones, acorns, and bones and learn how Moore discovered ideas for his art through objects in nature.
