  1. The Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision (BPSS) oversees and monitors non-degree granting proprietary schools in New York State. BPSS’s mission is to ensure that the overall educational quality of the programs offered will provide students with the necessary skills to secure meaningful employment and to protect students’ financial interests while attending proprietary schools. BPSS licenses/registers proprietary schools and credentials proprietary schoolteachers to ensure that appropriate standards are met. (NYSED, 2018).

  2. The School of Horticulture and Landscape Design (SHLD) is one of NYBG’s BPSS certified Private Career School, and includes certificates in Horticulture and Landscape Design. The School for Professional Horticulture, NYBG’s other BPSS certified school, is a full-time two-year program specializing in Horticulture.

  3. By enrolling in NYBG’s School for Horticulture and Landscape Design, you will be learning from the field’s top professionals in a variety of fields. NYBG’s recent certification as a Private Career School ensures that our State licensed teachers are providing you with a top-of-the-line State approved education. All SHLD students will receive one-on-one guidance through the program, as well as guaranteed, fixed pricing for all classes. Future employers will recognize SHLD as a quality institution, with career-ready graduates.

  4. The $100 administrative fee is a one-time only fee that covers costs associated with your enrollment in SHLD.

  5. Depending on which Certificate/Track you are pursuing, your Certificate will take anywhere from one to two and a half years. In official Enrollment Form, you will see a sample schedule. You are also welcome to work with our registration staff to craft a schedule that works best for you.
