We’re OPEN Monday, January 19 to round out the long weekend with a day among our collections—and plenty of winter beauty to spot. 🍂❄️

This crisp, quiet season is the perfect time to look closely at the plants you know, and those you don’t. The remnants of summer’s hydrangeas seem to glow in golden sunlight, and unique cold-weather flowers like winter heath dot the landscape. And the swaying meadows and burbling waters of the Native Plant Garden make it a perfect place to reflect.

Winter’s most charming little flowers, the snowdrops, have begun popping up throughout NYBG. The Azalea Garden is an especially good place to spot these tufts of shy blooms. And if your eyes tend to be on the skies, it’s a birder’s paradise with the leaves off the trees, making our feathered friends easier to see.

A crisp morning wandering the Garden is the perfect way to clear your mind and breathe a little easier.

It’s our pleasure to announce that Todd Forrest, NYBG’s Arthur Ross Vice President for Horticulture and Living Collections, has been honored with @thegardenclubofamerica’s 2026 Medal of Honor.

This medal is the GCA’s oldest national award, first given in 1920 and bestowed upon individuals and organizations for distinguished achievements in botanical pursuits. Todd Forrest receives this year’s award for his work communicating and demonstrating the value of horticulture as essential for addressing the biodiversity loss and climate change that our planet faces today.

The Holiday Train Show continues this week as we welcome 2026, and we'll be OPEN this Thursday, New Year's Day, for you to experience it before it's gone. Come warm up in the welcoming Haupt Conservatory as model trains zip among nearly 200 charming replicas of the City's most iconic architecture.

The show only goes through January 11 before it leaves the station, so get the family together before they leave town and stop by!
