Curator-led Tours are a great way to learn behind-the-scenes details from horticulturists. To ensure all get a chance to participate, Members are asked to register for only one of these tours per month.
Lilac Collection & Tree Peonies
May 9; 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
With Curator of Woody Plants Melissa Finley as your guide, explore the spring blooms of these two colorful collections. The lilacs in our collection are diverse in size and smell, giving off aromas ranging from sweet to spicy. Our tree peonies are unique low shrubs with softball-sized flowers, originally from China, and a spring highlight not to be missed.

Oak Collection
May 24; 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
The Coleman and Susan Burke Oak Collection is one of our more recently transformed collections after a major renovation in 2021. Join Curator of Woody Plants Melissa Finley and get an inside look into unusual oak species from the Southeast US and Eastern Asia. Learn more about the most ecologically significant and longest-lived tree species in the Eastern US.
Perennial Garden & Seasonal Walk
May 30; 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
Designed with an artist’s eye, the Perennial Garden combines a vast palette of colors, textures, flowers, and foliage into a living work of art. The nearby Seasonal Walk features a wide array of perennials, grasses, and bulbs—each selected for their interesting shape, structure, and color in every stage of growth throughout the year.
