Make your way to the Native Plant Garden and the Ladies’ Border this month to see some of our favorite seasonal visitors—the ruby-throated hummingbirds! 🪶

These tiny, flitting feathered wonders make a stop at the Garden each year to fuel up ahead of their long winter migration down to Mexico and Central America (a truly impressive road trip). It’s really a can’t-miss wonder of wildlife in New York, and now is your moment.

These evenings out at the Garden are your chance to experience Van Gogh’s Flowers lit up for the night, plus live music and dance, specialty drinks and light bites for purchase, and—conditions permitting—a dazzling dance of drones filling the night sky overhead.

Shhhhhhhh….do you hear that? It’s the sound of a gigantic water lily flower being pollinated. 🪷🖌

Now that this year’s #WaterlilyWeighOff is in the rear-view mirror, we’re already planning for 2026. But to do that, we need SEEDS. In the Amazon, Victoria cruziana’s large white flowers heat up (around 18°F/10°C warmer than their surroundings) and put off fragrance at night to attract flying beetles. Once they’re inside, the flower closes around the beetles throughout the following day. By the next nightfall, the visitors are covered in pollen, and fly off to find more flowers to share it with.

In our case, we don’t have beetles, but we do have the next best thing—Zack doing ASMR. See how we ensure seeds for next year’s plants!

Taking inspiration from Van Gogh’s sculptural representation of flowers, Lee Baker and Catherine Borowski of @graphic_rewilding created two contemporary works for Van Gogh’s Flowers that bring big, bold color to our latest exhibition. Hear how the pair of artists embraced Vincent’s love of light and color to create their maximalist installations that POP the second they come into view.
