This online education resource makes it possible for you to virtually explore the diverse plants and biomes housed in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. FBI: Forensive Botany Investigations for Grades 6-8

By conducting investigations and searching for clues, students explore the importance of plants and build skills such as concept mapping, data collection, and analysis.

Common Core Learning Standards and The New York Botanical Garden

Field trips to The New York Botanical Garden support the Common Core Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy.

The Everett Children's Adventure Garden, Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden, and GreenSchool Workshops in the biomes of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory and Thain Family Forest provide real contexts for students to explore and observe the natural world, allowing them to connect major concepts grounded in evidence—not just from reading text or working with images, but also writing from their own direct experiences.

Children's Education programs at NYBG embed science content in literacy, which supports college and career readiness standards for students' developing classroom skills using hands-on, inquiry-based activities. These immersive experiences coupled with the whole-group discussions and small-group collaboration help students to comprehend, synthesize, and apply complex written and verbal information about science in our four program venues in the following ways:
