ABOUT KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature

  1. KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature opens to the public Saturday, May 9, 2020 and closes Sunday, November 1, 2020.

  2. NYBG is the exclusive venue for KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature. Across NYBG’s 250-acre landmark landscape and buildings, the depth of Kusama’s lifelong fascination with the natural world will be revealed through multiple installations. The exhibition also debuts four new works created by the legendary artist, including a monumental pumpkin sculpture and her first-ever obliteration greenhouse. These works have never been publicly exhibited, and many others in the exhibition will be on view for the first time in the United States. NYBG’s expansive indoor and outdoor settings offer a singular Kusama experience.

  3. Kusama first made an Infinity Mirrored Room in the 1960s. In recent years the Infinity Mirrored Rooms have become increasingly popular subjects of museum exhibitions. KUSAMA All-Garden Pass + Infinity Mirrored Room ticketholders will be able to view a new Infinity Mirrored Room debuting at The New York Botanical Garden. Infinity Mirrored Room—Illusion Inside the Heart (2020) is an immersive outdoor installation that responds to the changing light throughout the day and seasons. Its exterior mirrors reflect the flora and landscape of the Home Gardening Center.

  4. There is one: Infinity Mirrored Room—Illusion Inside the Heart (2020).
