About The New York Botanical Garden

All school programs make use of one-of-a kind facilities both indoors and outdoors.

All programs are created in accordance with New York City Science Standards, New York State Learning Standards, and National Science Education Standards.

Everett Children's Adventure Garden

The Evertt Children's Adventure Garden is a unique 12-acre, outdoor/indoor museum where children learn plant science in a hands-on engaging way. Interactive exhibits convey different plant science concepts. Playful elements such as topiaries and mazes capture children's imagination and create an at atmosphere of exploration and fun. GreenSchool

Greenschool is located in the Enid A. Haupt conservatory. GreenSchool workshops offer hands-on inquiry-based lessons in a classroom setting, followed by excursion in the Conservatory, in the forests, or on the Garden grounds. Click here for school programs.

Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden

In the Rea Howell Family Garden, students learn about plants and the natural world through fun, hands-on Gardening. This 1.5-acre Garden is made up of playful topiaries , a pond teeming with life, a flourishing meadow, and individual garden plots. This garden is created and maintained by children, and it is a place where they can dig, weed, compost, and plant. Click here for school programs.

Enid A. Haupt Conservatory  


The Enid A Haupt Conservatory,a New York city Landmark, is an ace under glass featuring four distinct climatic regions: lowlandandupland tropical rain forests , deserts if the Americas and Africa, Exhibits feature misty rain forest,arid deserts, aquatic plants, outdoor pools, and dazzling seasonal exhibits such as the holiday train Show and The Orchid Show. Garden Grounds, Forests & Mitsubishi Wild Wetland Trail

The Garden ground comprise 250 acres featuring 48 gardens and plant collections, and a 50-acre remnant of the original forests that once covered New York City. The Mitsubishi Wild Wetland Trail-specially designed for children's- highlights life in a wetland marsh. In all seasons the garden and forests are sources of inspiration.
